Lip Fillers WITH DR SABER
Lip Fillers WITH DR SABER
Your face is one of the first areas to start showing signs of ageing – volume loss in particular. When we are younger, additional volumes makes the face look full and healthy. However, once this volume starts to dwindle, lines and wrinkles become more visible, the cheeks and under-eye areas begin to sag and the lips become thinner.
If you are unhappy with the appearance of your lips due to the natural ageing process or genetics, there is a way to add or restore volume with the help of cosmetic injections. Lip fillers cause minimal discomfort and make it possible to plump up and add more definition to the lips in less than 30 minutes.
Lip Fillers Explained
There is a substance that is found naturally in the body that binds to water. Not only does it help with joint lubrication but it regulates water levels in the skin – lip fillers imitate this substance.
Before lip fillers are administered, your medical history and expectations will need to be considered to ensure you’re a suitable candidate for this procedure. Depending on how much volume and definition needs to be achieved, a specific number of injections will be required, which means every patient’s needs will be different. It’s important to note that replicating the lips of celebrity if possible but your features should always look balanced. Dr Saber Ansari will provide you with a personalised recommendation on how much volume to add.
During an appointment, patients can expect to feel some slight pressure during every injection. While this is tolerable for the majority of patients, a topical anaesthetic can be applied prior to treatment to alleviate any discomfort.
Over and above the time required for the initial consultation, the average lip filler session lasts about 15 – 20 minutes. Patients can choose to treat multiple areas during one session, which may extend treatment times. Other areas that are generally treated with dermal fillers include the cheeks and eye area.
Patients can expect their lips to be slightly swollen after their session but this will gradually subside over the next few days.
Lip fillers are ideal for men and women who want to add more volume to their lips or make them more defined. Patients should also be in good health and have realistic expectations about what can be achieved.
There is no need to decide whether or not you want to receive lip fillers directly after your consultation with Dr Saber – you will be given time to think about your options.
Areas that Can Be Treated
Lip fillers can be used to:
- Boost the size of your lips
- Replace volume that has been lost with age
- Plump and smooth age lines
- Define your cupid’s bow
- Enhance your smile by filling out your top lip so it doesn’t disappear when you smile
Will the treatment hurt?
Like any other injection you may have been administered, a lip filler, when injected, will only feel like a pinch. You may also feel a little stinging when the filler is being injected. Once administered, you may notice some bruising. However, we provide topical numbing creams that you can apply at the site of injection to numb out any pain or stinging.
How often can one undergo the procedure?
Once you have had a procedure at our Melbourne clinic for lip injections, you need to wait about 6-12 months before you get a follow-up procedure.
Is there a downtime to the procedure?
While the procedure for getting lip injections at our clinic in Werribee, Melbourne, only lasts about 15-20 minutes, you may notice some swelling and bruising, which may last up to a week. Applying ice to the area will help subside the swelling. You will also need to avoid strenuous activities for about 2 weeks after the procedure.

RESULTS Lip Injections
Since your lips will be swollen after your filler session, your final results won’t be visible directly after your appointment. How long the results last will depend on how quickly your body metabolises the filler. On average, lip fillers can last anywhere from six months to a year. If patients wish to maintain the appearance of their lips, top-up treatments will be required.
If you decide that you are unhappy with your results, you can either request that a specialised enzyme be used to dissolve the filler or wait for your lips to return to normal several months later.

While you are free to return to work after your appointment, it’s important to avoid exercise for t least 24 – 48 hours. The excess sweating and heat that is generated during exercise can affect your results. It’s for this reason that you should also avoid extreme temperatures as well as saunas.
If there is any bruising present after your appointment, you can apply a cold compress to your lips. Avoiding any medications or supplements that could thin your blood several days before and after your appointment can also help minimise bruising. Smoking and drinking through a straw should also be avoided for several days.
