Facial Thread Lift WITH DR SABER

Volume loss and skin laxity are the results of the natural ageing process and until now, a traditional facelift was the only way to correct advanced stages of ageing.

Thread lifts are now filling the gap between non-surgical facial rejuvenation and surgery. Using sutures of different lengths, a smoothing and lifting effect can be achieved without the need for incisions. Along with improving the appearance of the skin, the threads also encourage collagen production, ensuring your skin gradually improves over the long term.

The areas of the face that benefit from a thread lift include the eyes, upper cheeks, jaw, mouth, lips and nose, all the areas that tend to show the most prominent signs of ageing.

How a Facial Thread Lift is Performed

Before a thread lift is performed, a local anaesthetic will be applied to the targeted areas. From there, threads of varying lengths will be chosen and sterile acupuncture needles will be used to embed the threads underneath the skin.

Each thread is strategically placed in order to create a frame that will support the skin and increase collagen production in specific areas. The entire procedure shouldn’t take longer than an hour depending on how many areas you want to lift. Patients can choose to treat the whole face or just a particular area of concern. For example, a patient may just want to reduce the appearance of jowls.

You may be an ideal candidate for a thread lift with Dr Saber if you are over the age of 30 and would like to lift and tighten your skin but don’t feel you are quite ready for a full facelift. Patients should also be aware that the changes will be more subtle when compared to what can be achieved with a traditional facelift. If you are struggling with severe skin laxity, you may want to consider a traditional facelift instead.

It is also possible for a thread lift to be combined with other non-surgical treatments such as dermal fillers to achieve the patient’s desired outcome. Dr Saber will advise you accordingly during your consultation once your face has been evaluated and your concerns and expectations discussed.

RESULTS THREAD LIFTING

Patients will see an instant lifting effect following their thread lift but the most significant changes will occur after two to three months. This is because swelling first needs to subside and the face needs to heal and settle.

Since the threads that are inserted are dissolvable, the results of this procedure will last about 6 months. However, collagen production will continue long after the threads have dissolved. To maintain the results of your thread lift, a top-up treatment is recommended every year.

FACIAL THREAD LIFT

One of the main reasons why thread lifts have become increasingly popular is because when compared to a traditional facelift, the recovery time is much shorter and patients don’t require the same assistance at home.

Following your procedure, there may be some slight discomfort, swelling and bruising but this will subside within a few days. Mineral makeup can be used to conceal any redness and bruising if it is still present when you need to return to work.

Patients are free to go home a few hours after their procedure and will be able to return to work two to three days after their thread lift. However, exercise should be avoided for at least two weeks. In the case of contact sports, this should be avoided for at least a month as it could dislodge the threads. Any dental work should be put off for a month and facial and beauty treatments should only be scheduled two weeks after your procedure.

While your face is healing, it’s important not to rub it too vigorously or apply too much pressure to it. Patients will need to be very gentle when washing and moisturising their faces. It’s also helpful to sleep with your head in an elevated position to make it more difficult to roll over onto your side – at least until the threads have settled anyway. Softer foods are encouraged for the first few days to prevent too much jaw movement.

Dr Saber will provide you with specific aftercare instructions that will ensure a smoother recovery.

The side effects associated with a thread lift are minimal if the procedure is performed by a skilled surgeon such as Dr Saber. Swelling, bruising and mild discomfort are the most common side effects. Pain medication can be used to alleviate any pain that is experienced during your recovery. Granuloma formation is a potential but rare risk. If it does occur, the sutures will need to be replaced.
